"You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Individual Psychotherapy & Counselling

In-Person & Online

When life throws us difficulties it can be a challenge to face them. Engaging in psychotherapy can be a bit like teaming up with a tour guide on your journey through the chaos of life.  When we feel lost and hopeless it helps to have someone pull out a map and and help us rediscover who we really are and where we are going.

In individual psychotherapy I work with you one-on-one to find your path to healing. I offer a safe, compassionate space where you can openly and confidentially explore your thoughts, emotions, feelings and behaviours.

My aim is to offer you more than a simple band-aid solution for your symptoms. My hope is to help you dig deep down, under the surface, to find the roots of your pain, finding deep, lasting healing. Looking deeply within can allow you to find a greater depth of being, personal expansion, greater self-understanding, deeper meaning and purpose in life and to have closer intimate relationships.

I use a holistic, integrative approach to therapy which draws from several therapeutic modalities depending on what best suits my YOU. Together we can work on a variety of issues such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Childhood Abuse
  • Trauma
  • Compassion Fatigue
  • Burn Out
  • Life Changes (ex. Adjustment to Post-Secondary Education, Entering the Workforce, Marriage, Parenthood, Career Change)
  • Relationship Problems
  • Existential Crisis
  • Spiritual Emergence/Awakening
  • Emptiness
  • Low Self-esteem

My Holistic, Integrative approach focuses on mind, body and soul. We will use a variety of the following modalities: Psychodynamic - Aims to bring hidden parts of ourselves into awareness; Somatic/Body Oriented- Aims to locate where your emotions and experiences have become stored in your body; S.A.F.E. EMDR  - Aims to access and process unresolved trauma in the deeper parts of the brain; Brainspotting - Also aims to access and process unresolved trauma in the deeper parts of the brain; Transpersonal - Views humans as spiritual, energetic beings;  Existential - Aims to help you find meaning and purpose in life. Learn more about my approach here.

This approach uses methods such as:

Does Therapy Really Help?

Psychotherapy VS Medication

Effectiveness of Psychodynamic Therapy

Effectiveness of Psychodynamic Therapy

"With an effective therapist, science shows that psychotherapy even works better in the long-term and is more enduring than medication. In fact, not only is it more cost-effective, but psychotherapy leads to fewer relapses of anxiety and mild to moderate depression than medication use alone..."

Effectiveness of Psychodynamic Therapy

"Psychodynamic psychotherapy was shown to be just as effective as CBT in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder..."

Why Therapy Works

Effectiveness of Psychodynamic Therapy

Why Therapy Works

"Therapy works because it exposes and creates with our relational interconnectivity. It “brings out” and develops what’s most positive about us."

"We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are." ~ Carl Rogers
